Welcome to Soli Deo Gloria Goldens!

At SDG Goldens, we are dedicated to raising exceptional English Cream Golden Retrievers that excel as loving companions, therapy dogs, service dogs, and emotional support animals (ESAs). By focusing on health, early development, structured socialization, and training, we prepare our puppies for a lifetime of success in their new homes.

Health and Genetics: A Strong Foundation

Our breeding program prioritizes health and longevity to ensure our puppies have the best start in life. We carefully select European-imported English Golden Retrievers with outstanding pedigrees and conduct comprehensive OFA health and genetic testing to prevent hereditary conditions. With a 2-year health guarantee, our families can have peace of mind knowing their puppy comes from a responsible, health-conscious breeding program.

Puppy Culture: Building Confidence & Emotional Stability

We follow the Puppy Culture® training program, which focuses on developing intelligence, confidence, and resilience in young puppies. This program includes:

  • Desensitization to sounds & environments: Exposing puppies to household noises, medical equipment, wheelchairs, and different surfaces to prepare them for therapy and service work as well as give them confidence to new experiences in general.

  • Problem-solving & enrichment activities: Teaching puppies how to navigate challenges, making them highly trainable for advanced commands.

  • Emotional stability training: Encouraging puppies to recover quickly from stress and distractions, a crucial trait for service and therapy dogs as well as pets that are taken out in public.

  • Crate training – Making housebreaking and travel easier.

  • Basic manners – positive reinforcement teaching early manners to help the puppies understand the best way to communicate. For example: puppies will sit to be petted instead of jumping on someone.

  • Social confidence – Preparing puppies to be calm and well-mannered in new situations.

By integrating Puppy Culture, our puppies are well-prepared to become confident, well-adjusted, and adaptable companions.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) & Early Scent Introduction (ESI)

To enhance the mental and physical resilience of our puppies, we incorporate two crucial early development techniques:

  • ENS (Days 3–16): This involves gentle exercises designed to stimulate the neurological system, improving cardiovascular health, stress tolerance, and adaptability—key traits for service and therapy dogs.

  • ESI (Days 3–16): Exposing puppies to different scents strengthens their olfactory senses, making them more adept at scent work, which is beneficial for therapy, service, and emotional support roles.  It can also make training easier.

By implementing ENS and ESI, our puppies develop stronger problem-solving skills, emotional stability, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly.

Socialization & Community Exposure: Preparing for Public Life

Proper socialization is essential for all puppies. At SDG Goldens, we provide structured socialization experiences, including:

  • Raised in our home: Puppies live in a loving household, experiencing daily activities, ensuring they are comfortable in real-life environments. We homeschool our children in our livingroom, right next to the puppy pen.

  • Interacting with children and adults: Our five children and visiting friends expose puppies to people of all ages, fostering gentle and patient temperaments.

  • Weekly nursing home visits: Starting at six weeks old, we introduce puppies to elderly individuals, wheelchairs, and medical equipment, preparing them for future therapy and service work.

  • Exposure to different environments: Outings to public places help puppies develop calm and confident behavior in various settings.

These socialization experiences create well-rounded puppies that are comfortable accompanying their owners in public, interacting with different people, and handling unpredictable environments.

Why SDG Goldens Puppies Excel as Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs, and ESAs

Our structured early development program makes our puppies ideal candidates for:

  • Service Dogs – With emotional stability, intelligence, and problem-solving skills, our puppies excel in roles assisting individuals with disabilities, mobility impairments, and medical alerts.

  •  Therapy Dogs – Our puppies’ early socialization with diverse people and environments helps them provide comfort in hospitals, schools, and nursing homes.

  •  Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) – With gentle temperaments and strong bonds with humans, our puppies bring comfort and companionship to individuals struggling with anxiety, PTSD, and depression.
