Goose is staying with us for training right now, and at just 10½ weeks old, he’s already impressing us with how quickly he catches on! This week, we’ve been focusing on kennel manners—a big milestone in every puppy’s journey toward becoming a calm, confident companion.
Right now, Goose is learning the word “kennel” and understanding what it means to go in willingly and wait patiently until released. We’re reinforcing that the kennel is not just a place to sleep—it’s his safe, quiet space where good things happen.
He’s doing wonderful so far! We’re introducing short, positive sessions of the door being open with treats and calm praise, helping him build trust and self-control. The goal is for him to stay in his kennel calmly until released—not rushing the door or whining, but waiting for that simple release word that lets him know it’s time to come out.
This kind of early training lays the groundwork for so much more: confidence during travel, a peaceful place to rest, and a smooth transition when visiting new places. Goose is such a smart boy, and we’re proud of how quickly he’s learning what’s expected of him!
